About the Project
Now more than ever, it is essential that we come together as Australians and locals of Stirling to support each other.
All levels of government are linking up with each other to tackle this crisis, and I am doing my part to link organisations who need volunteers with people ready, willing and able to volunteer.
It is my intention not to re-invent the wheel or duplicate the good work of others, but rather to better coordinate and communicate opportunities within our local community.
There are a couple of ways signing up here can help our community:
- If you are an organisation that needs volunteers to continue to provide a public service to the community, or you have set up an organisation or group specifically to support those impacted by coronavirus, by signing up here we can link you with others who want to serve.
- If you find yourself with some free time and want to volunteer, we can link you up with organisations like the above.
And remember, one of the most important things we can do whilst we physically isolate ourselves is to stay emotionally connected with one another. By volunteering here you'll be doing your part to keep Stirling connected.
So what could you do?
Obviously large groups of people working together in the one place isn't possible right now.
But you might be stuck at home in isolation and want to call seniors in our community to check in on them.
You may wish to put your hand up to deliver meals to those in need.
I don't have all the answers, and none of us know exactly what the next few months will look like. But if we pull together as a community and share our needs with one another, we can get through this and be stronger on the other side.
