It’s Legacy Week, and residents in the electorate of Stirling are being encouraged to buy a badge and a bear to support the families of veterans who lost their lives or have been injured while serving our country.

To show his support, Federal Member for Stirling, Vince Connelly MP, is taking part in Lunge for Legacy 2021, raising awareness and vital funds for veterans’ families.

Throughout the month of September, Mr Connelly will complete 1000 lunges – 500 per leg – to represent the more than 500 veteran families who have lost a loved one to suicide since 2001.

Mr Connelly said he is a proud supporter of Legacy, and is heartened to be part of such an important cause.

“For almost 100 years, Legacy has been supporting veterans’ widows, their families and children following the loss or injury of their loved one.

“Legacy do an honourable job providing practical assistance to 43,000 families across Australia through advocacy, counselling, medical and social support.

“This year I wanted to go a step further than rattling the tin at the shopping centre, which my wife and I usually do. Lunge for Legacy is a unique way to raise funds and reflect on the sacrifices of our service personnel and their loved ones.

“Any donation is much appreciated, with the money going towards helping the families of those who have given their life or health in the service of our country.”
